Diskarte Doesn’t Fix All Problems

Three days after a Filipino friend changed my car’s brake pads and disks something else happened that was beyond diskarte: the engine light came on and the only way I could find out why was by means of an electronic diagnosis of the Electronic Control Unit or E.C.U., something beyond the grasp of diskarte.

It turned out that the reason why the engine light was on was that I had to change the ignition coil.

I got away with paying 70 euros to the garage (the Italian one) but, had the Filipino guy been the one to change it, I could probably have got away with buying a bottle of gin!

Diskarte has its limits: cars have too much electronics these days….
